Hello visitors,

More recent news of Mr Bell have been rare as of late, but Philip has linked me to an article which I haven’t seen yet! It’s from last year during the Defiance promotion period and is accompanied with a photo that may interest the fans.

It’s nine years since Billy Elliott. Are you getting £1 million a movie yet?
Maybe. But I can’t discuss my salary with you!

We’re writing down ‘yes’. What’s the biggest paycheque you’ve ever had?
They’re all different. And let me tell you, playing a perverted kid who wants to have sex with his mother in Hallam Foe doesn’t pay.

You should have said you get £5 million per film to set a marker for future work.
Like I’m Shia LaBeouf? I’m afraid he’s in a league of his own.

But isn’t he only doing so well because he’s mates with Steven Spielberg?
Well, that is useful. But one can’t deny he’s good at commanding audiences in big movies.

Hello visitors,

Thanks to Philip for the link, it appears that The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn has a release date confirmed:

According to Box Office Mojo the official release date for Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn in North America is December 23rd 2011, which also happens to be my birthday. Tintin will be released in countries such as Sweden, Netherlands and Germany in October 2011 as Tintin is rather popular in that part of the world. To date the graphic novel series has sold over 200 million copies worldwide and most of those sales were in Europe, so the studios (Sony/Paramount) have the right strategy even if the US has to wait an extra 2 months for it.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn stars Daniel Craig, Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and will be using the same performance-capture technology James Cameron used for Avatar, so expect a visual treat.

If you’re not too sure what to expect, from another interview with LA Times, Steven Spielberg had said:

So though Jamie Bell will be digitally made to look exactly like Hergé’s classic renderings of Tintin, it will be Jamie Bell’s complete physical and emotional performance. (…) If Tintin makes you feel something, it’s Jamie Bell’s soul you’re sensing.

G’day visitors,

As always, thanks to the wonderful Phil for linking me up with this article!

The much lauded 20th Anniversary issue of Empire is out now and on shelves across the UK. The Oxford Cornmarket St. branch of WH Smith has definitely sold at least one copy already. I’m sat here with it now, and am quite taken aback by how brilliant it truly is. Really, this is Empire at its best. This is the Empire we want month in, month out. They’ve delivered the ideal version of a magazine devised to cover studio and mainstream fare in an exciting and accessible way and mainly they’ve done that by stuffing it full of exclusives. Buy one. You know you want to.

A lot of the best stuff comes in a feature on Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s Tintin film or, rather, films. Amongst other things, the magazine confirms that the second film is not only funded, but in pre-production already. Jackson’s quote on that – and lots more – after the break.

Good day everyone,

Thanks to Philip for notifying me about the BBC coverage of Jamie over the last week!

Jamie Bell in the studio with Edith (BBC Radio)
Jamie Bell popped in today, he’d been in about a year and a half ago to talk about Hallam Foe and he was a total pleasure. Today was no exception and his film Defiance is well worth checking out. Now I’ll be the first to admit that the look of the film didn’t really appeal, but I really really enjoyed it.

Jamie is awesome in it as one of the brothers alongside Mr Daniel Craig. Anyway, he came into the studio live for a good half hour and had a good old natter about most stuff really.

We talked Billy Elliot, being embarassed when your films are on big screens on plane journeys and drinking vodka and watching The Bourne Ultimatum with Daniel Craig. If you missed it, listen again, better still go and see the film, it’s out this Friday.

Actor Jamie Bell stars in new film ‘Defiance’. Based on a true story, Bell plays one of four jewish brothers from Poland who escape the Nazis.

The star of 2000′s Billy Elliot, Jamie Bell, says he and the other main actors on new World War II film Defiance were scared about speaking in Polish and Russian accents but that it great working with Bond actor Daniel Craig.

Hello everyone,

With Defiance floating about, Jamie has been popping up a lot on the Internet with online interviews and articles. I think I might even have to set up a new section of the website dedicated to press material, haha. Anyway, I have found three interesting reads for you all. And thanks to Tia again for linking me up with the Times Online interview!

Jamie Bell escapes the shadow of Billy Elliot
The best thing about meeting Jamie Bell is that you just meet Jamie Bell. Someone tells you to be at a certain spot at a certain time (in this case, a steamy diner on New York’s Fifth Avenue at 10.30am) and he just shows up, says hello and decides that he could murder a coffee. There’s no PR in tow to chaperone him, to manage his schedule, to smile tightly when he swears emphatically (which he will do), or when he spends more time talking about football than his latest film projects (the previous day, his team, Arsenal, had beaten Chelsea 2-1). In fact, by the time he’s posed by a slew of New York landmarks, skimmed stones on the East River, ordered a slice of pepperoni at a Brooklyn pizza joint, browsed a hip bookstore, dropped into a Greenwich Village café and, finally, hit a cosy bar serving strong Belgian beer, he’ll have given up about ten hours of his day. Which, for a working film star, is pretty good going.

Continue here…

Daniel Craig Steps In To Save Jamie Bell
James Bond star Daniel Craig proved himself a true hero when he used his clout to halt the filming of new movie Defiance – after co-star Jamie Bell fell ill onset.

The pair was shooting outdoor scenes for the war drama on location in Lithuania when the freezing conditions sent Billy Elliot actor Bell close to hypothermia.

Continue here…

Accent Worry
Daniel Craig was so worried about speaking Russian in new movie Defiance, he practiced his lines in secret so nobody could hear him.

The James Bond star, who appears alongside fellow British actor Jamie Bell in the war drama, was nervous as he tried to master the language for the role.

And Bell reveals no one on set was confident about speaking their lines – because they sounded so bad.
