“Mister Foe” Press Interviews and Reviews
September 8th, 2008 | Film, Jamie Updates

G’day everyone,

As always, thanks to Philip, I have some awesome linkage for you guys! The first is an interview Jamie did with Ron Dicker for The Hartford Courant.

JAMIE BELL plays a voyeur who misses his dead mother in “Mister Foe,” opening soon in area theaters.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Jamie Bell is about to sit down for this interview when the past visits him with a hearty hug. It is one of the publicists who worked for him when he emerged as the dancing lad in the 2000 feel-good hit “Billy Elliot.”

Bell is now 22, with a body of work that has shepherded him beyond adolescent breakthrough. While many actors cede control of their careers as if stuck in a cosmic pinball machine — Bell has plotted his course as much as he can.

“Every decision is always thought through — what the effects could be or what it means in the bigger picture,” he says. Continue…

He just shot “Defiance” in Lithuania with Daniel Craig (slated for a December release), went to nine countries for Doug Liman’s “Jumper” and filmed his current “Mister Foe” partially in Scotland. And now the 22-year-old lives in New York. But after all that, he finds himself feeling surprisingly close to his small hometown in the northeast of England that he had jumped out of at the first opportunity.

“Billingham, probably about 16,000 inhabitants,” he said in a Beverly Hills restaurant. “Margaret Thatcher shut down pretty much all the coal-mining industry, which was really the basis of the community.
